Streaming Platform NextUp Comedy Announces Partnership with Soho Theatre

September 20
01:20 2019

London, UK – NextUp, a streaming platform that specialises in stand-up programming, is teaming up with Soho Theatre in London. Through this partnership, NextUp will record a series at the venue to be released through their platform in the future.

Founders Stuart Snaith, Kenny Cavey, Sarah Henley and Daniel Berg established NextUp Comedy in 2016. From recording shows and attending gigs, to running ComComedy, the team has had years of combined experience in the industry. Throughout their careers, each founder took note of common issues in the comedy world. For one, they recognised that fans can’t always attend their favourite shows because of factors such as cost, location, etc. They also acknowledged the need for a diversity of talent on a mainstream, permanent comedy platform.

In an effort to solve these issues, the team created NextUp Comedy. Now, it serves as a worldwide streaming platform where subscribers can watch stand-up specials on-demand similarly to other popular streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu. What Makes NextUp unique is that users have access to a large library of exclusive content that is continuously updated. The content includes big names as well as up-and-coming performers so that users can discover new talent.

The team’s partnership with Soho Theatre in London is a new way for the streaming service to provide access to live comedy from the United Kingdom’s upcoming comedic talent. Similarly to NextUp’s mission, Soho Theatre strives to give emerging talent the spotlight, and make their shows accessible to a variety of audiences.

Through their partnership, the two entities will work together to film new stand-up specials at Soho Theatre. The specials will be released through the streaming platform for subscribers to see. This partnership is the first time in the U.K. that a streaming service and a major stand-up venue are working together to produce and release full-length stand-up specials.

The first recordings are set to take place on September 22. The initial batch of shows includes Aditi Mittal: Mother of Invention, Jen Brister: Meaningless, Lazy Susan: Forgive Me, Mother, and Shappi Khorsandi: Live in Soho.

Future recordings have not yet been announced. As the platform continues to work with Soho Theatre in London, users can look forward to new content from this new partnership.
